Otherwise, bring your own chair (there's not enough to handle the public). Bring something to drink, to eat, and to read! You must also have the patience of a Saint! And it doesn't matter what time you arrive, you still have to wait.
PS. Don't bother calling the Mayor's office to complain because no one calls you back! Maybe with Mayor Kim things will change!

Everyone in America knows the DMV means lines and waiting. Kona DMV is no different. However, the staff is very helpful and friendly, so the sting is less. I have been there 3 times in the past 8 months and have had to wait 1.5 hrs, 30 mins and 45 mins. I have been when they open, 1p and 3p. I think it just depends what day, how much rain, etc. as to how many people show up. There was plenty of outdoor seating. The restroom is clean and convenient. I brought a book. People that arrive after you may be called first, but that's because certain staff handles certain transactions. Slow down, live aloha.
