What can I say, Dara is a magician with the scissors! And the environment at her salon is so peaceful and relaxing. I highly recommend Wave Salon.
Not sure why this place has 5-Stars, I went there a few weeks ago from the reviews posted on yelp. They must have friends or clients post only the good reviews. Since Kona is such a small town, and I am born and raised here, I don't like to write bad reviews. First of all this place was located in a commercial building above Costco, nothing upscale or high-end at all. Supercuts in Kona Commons in nicer. I wanted to do a nice burgundy color, and since everyone on the reviews stated that they were happy with their color, I gave it a try. It turned out pink! Not at all what I wanted. I didn't make a big stink, I told my stylist that this was not the burgundy color that I wanted, and instead of telling me that she would have me come back, or re-do, she said that some hair takes color some not, which is not true. I don't color my hair, so there was no reason why putting on a burgundy color on brunette hair, should have turned it pink. It is also NOTa relaxing place, there were other gals there talking loudly while having up-dos for a wedding. Place was so small it was like a small studio. Would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. I went to Hearts and Stars salon in Waikoloa, and they fixed the color to what I wanted, no problem, they told me the gal did not know what she was doing. I should have known by the location that this place was not upscale, the gals must have just come out of beauty school (the beauty supply store is a couple doors down). Stay away.
I lost my hairdresser, so decided to give Dara at Wave a try. She was so charming and helpful and gave me a terrific no-mess haircut and great product advice. It was a wonderful experience; I am thrilled to have found someone I can rely on!
