Yup, the rating is appropriate - great food and lovely former restauranteur owners who pride themselves on making great food. While it’s merely a pickup window, there is plenty of seating in the market gardens (which happen to be another passion of the owners). Love spice? Have the Volcanoe Burger - cooked to taste. Ribs are a must-not-miss.
The adults in our party had Volcano Burgers. We laughed out loud when we saw them; fully assembled, they were at least 7" tall. Each burger had two real patties. $12.50 apiece was not unreasonable. It's not often that you get something both truly different from anything you've had before and truly delicious, but the Volcano Burger was.
The next day, we went back and had the $16.50 half-rack of ribs. THE BEST. If I were them I would find a better coleslaw recipe, but I would patent the ribs and get rich off the royalties. They're that good. They are great on their own, but served together with rice and pineapple they are arguably even better, and absolutely perfect for Hawaii.
Again from TX and also found this gem on our last day of our stay in Kona. Very good ribs! Meat falls right off the bone. Great place wish we found it earlier in our trip. I would highly recommend making a trip to TJ's.
Visiting from Texas and we found this little gem on our last day of vacation. Some of the best BBQ ribs I have ever tasted, hands down (and I've eaten my fair share in Texas). Slightly sweet sauce but beautifully balanced with fall-off-the-bone meat. Rice and coleslaw were tasty accompaniments. Highly recommend!!
