As a veteran, I appreciate all the service Kaiser provides me. Unfortunately, the VA here does not have this level of expertise or accommodation.
Quick and easy to get in and out and most services are right in the building. Doctors are accessible and contact you back quickly.
My wife and I have been Kaiser patients for about 10 years. I am now on Medicare. Our primary care doctor is excellent and we have mostly positive experiences but the pharmacy is consistently problematic because their ability to fill Rx's is inconsistent, their Rx pickup confirmations are unreliable, and some pharmacists have a combative attitude and reflexively blame the patient for internal failures. Specifically, meds may not be in stock or they cannot fill the Rx in the quantity ordered, necessitating multiple trips. You can receive phone and text message stating the Rx is ready for pickup when it is not. While this may not be a problem for folks near Kona, a roundtrip to Kona for us is about 4 hours and entails about $20 worth of gas. When you discover the Rx you were told is ready for pickup is not, the pharmacists engage in apology platitudes and ask me why I don't call their byzantine phone system to inquire if the Rx is indeed ready for pickup before I make the trip! An additional problem is the pharmacy is not open on Saturday, the day we are most likely to go to Kona. A half-dozen other pharmacies in Kona and Hilo are open on Saturday, why not Kaiser who has enough business in Hawaii to build a major if understaffed facility? I recently resorted to filing a formal complaint and will see if that is productive. Message to Kaiser: FIX YOUR PHARMACY PRACTICES AND DON'T BLAME PATIENTS FOR YOUR INTERNAL FAILURES.
Can't even give directions over the phone. Never been there. Probably gonna get lost going there
