Steve is a really great guy to work with, definitely understands his trade and loves what he does. He's got good people and good equipment in his shop and they do some very excellent woodworking. Of all the local shops, Steve is the most approachable and willing to take on unique small projects for the individual homeowner. When I was in the shop they were working on a koa wood custom corner display case for one lady and a full set of beautiful mahogany cabinet doors for another client. All I needed was to get something cut square and edge-taped and they helped me right away. Unless I was a corporate builder looking to drop half a million on a huge run of cabinets, I think I would go to Steve Alterman for something before I would try anywhere else.
Steve made some custom bamboo inserts for a wrought iron staircase. We would have been happy with just functional, but Steve made absolutely beautiful stairs that are now a real showpiece. He also met a very tight schedule for us. Would highly recommend.
