We went for the beach and were fascinated by the walk to the beach. From the parking lot, walk toward the slips, then follow the bank to the right. Posts protect the entrance to the last 100 yards or so. You'll see the entrance to the busy harbor on the way. There were portable restrooms and a shade hut to drop your gear. If you go at low tide, expect to walk out on the lava bottom to get to water deep enough to begin snorkling. Turtles were paddling around and on the beach, while schools of fish had moved outside the breakwater. We went about 8 a.m.
