My wife and I just returned from 10 days at Hale Maluhia and couldn't be more pleased with our choice of accommodations. Our room was sunny and bright and the air conditioner kept it at a comfortable temperature, important for my wife. The daily breakfast was fabulous with a wide variety of food to chose from in the kitchen. Dining was on the comfortable lanai where you could watch birds feeding in the bird feeder and on the grass. The staff was very friendly and helpful and always upbeat. The owner, Ken, is very knowledgeable about the island and was able to suggest many interesting places to visit. The price is very good considering the wonderful breakfast provided. My wife and I will definitely stay there the next time we visit the Big Island.

Dave and Marium were absolutely the best hosts anyone could ever have. All hotels were booked and we called Hale Maluhia and he answered the phone and immediately said yes we have a room. He waited until we got there to make sure we got there; not to mention they usually do not do one night stays but the really saved us. Super sweet couple. The breakfast in the A.M. alone was phenomenal- Marium makes fresh bread the night before and it was the best breakfast I had in an extremely long time. Everything comes from their own garden and trees.

I would definitely take my family back there and stay longer than just a night.

The owner, Dave and Miriam are not willing to solve the issue you had. They charged you when you check in, so if you have any problem, live with it. When I tell them that the dust on the ceiling, they laughed and said if you live in an old house, you would meet the same problem. When I told them that I need a soap, they said the shampoo is 3 in 1, for hair, conditioner and body. Keep in mind, the room rate was not that cheap, it was $200/night. For this rate, you definitely could find a better B&B nearby.

Thanks for the accommodations.

It was a great place, and my 7 year old daughter had a blast helping Marium make breakfast!

Antique feel inside their beautiful home.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hale Maluhia. Great staff and nice location. The social experience during breakfast was an absolute pleasure, plus the DIY breakfast was very delicious. We would definitely stay at the Inn again. We rented the Jasmine room which was a Loft/Attic type of setting. Came with TV, fridge, microwave, two queen size beds, AC, free wifi and a private bath.

The experience at this B&B was terrible! STAY AWAY if you need a mind-free vacation at Kona, HI. The room is totally different than photo which posted online. Dust were dropping off from the ceiling on my face while sleeping. Bathroom stinks, flies and mold everywhere. Shower did not work. Bed sheet was dirty.

Stayed July 2016

Impecable service, really friendly owners and feels like your staying at your second home, lovely greenery views from your window !

This inn is near the road on hill, at night, the sound of climbing hill engine was extremely loud.
