Our server created the best environment he possbly could, given the circumstances he had to deal with. He managed a glass of wine for me. Instead of a bill, he told us that the meal was being comped. And we left a tip. Sure as heck was not his fault the manager could not do his job.
After ordering, it was nearly an hour (58 minutes from the time our order was turned in) before we got our dinner. Fish tacos aren't too tough to create. Our fish tacos were a) cold, b) so soggy the bottom of the tortilla fell apart when picked up, c) uncooked tortillas. I truly felt sorry for our server, Robert, who came over to tell us how sorry he was that our dinner was so delayed. 3 of the kitchen staff did not show up for their shift.
Once we were finally served, my husband went to the staff, who alerted the manager, to tell them that the meal was certainly not worthy of the wait or the $14. Shortly thereafter, the manager came over to apologize, Explaining that the problem is being such a busy restaurant, it was difficult - but there were no tables occupied inside and the lanai was only half full - no one at our table fell any sincerity from him at all. Mr. Manager needs to find a different profession, because running a 'busy restaurant' is not his forte.
Cool atmosphere, nice location on the water, service is decent, food is decent. The presentation of the food was better than the food itself. The dishes from the kids menus were displayed in boats (cute) but we paid $8+ for Kraft Mac n cheese and a little applesauce. Ordered the grilled fish tacos. Nothing spectacular, but decent. My husband ordered the coconut shrimp and that was fabulous.
The only reason this place is getting 2* is because of the service staff. Here is our story:
Reminds me of A Red Robin with great views and seafood. The kids enjoyed this place very much. Food is alright and drinks are a little light on the alcohol. Happy hour has great prices and the outdoor seating is right on the water.
Beat place to have my husband's birthday. Amazing happy hour, service, drinks, the works!!!!! One of my favorite places on the island. Cheap cocktails for happy hour;
Only place in kona where you can find some shrimp fun to eat. For some reason shrimp is hard to come by in big island. Restaurants don't have menu with shrimp, food trucks are non existent shrimp is hard commodity to find. Bubba gump offers some shrimp basket and it was southern style. The place has a very good view. The service was great and quick. I imagine being a big chain they are equipped to handle lot of people at a time. The review on the yelp was not that great we went there anyway for their shrimp basket. So my review could be biased but I loved it.
Lava flow is to die for. Blue Hawaiian is amazing too. Amazing appetizers; Cajun garlic bread, spinach dip. Such a great place! Great staff they sang to him lol
