Visited this on the morning of our last vacation day and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. If you like to visit botanical gardens and national parks, as we do, you will love this tour. The Cloud Forest is lovely but what made this tour so special was our guide. Kelly Dunn is knowledgeable and enthusiastic and obviously loves and respects this very special place. Kelly was more than happy to answer all our questions and we never felt rushed. A tip, some tour operators also offer trips to this Cloud Forest and charge double and triple what Kelly charges. Call direct and you will not only save money but also have a better tour.
What a great experience! Being a resident in Kona it was terrific to experience something so unique and relaxing. To listen to nature speak was what I enjoyed the most!! It’s not what I’ve come to Hawaii anticipating was a possibility. I actually hadn’t realized there were trails to hike. For the walk itself I’d say it’s a medium walk and not overly exerting. Although, You do have to be nimble on your feet because of the gravel, tree roots, and grade of the climb. Kelly is a great guide~ funny, knowledgeable, and entertaining. I’d highly recommend his cloud forest experience.
I have to say just amazing! I was born on the Big Island and had no idea the different species of plants and trees we have on this Island. A majority of people come for the beaches and shops. You have to do this tour.
My family and I had an amazing time walking through the lush cloud forest! I have never seen a forest as unique and ancient as this one. The temperature is a perfect 70 degrees which keeps the mosquitos to a minimum. The tour guides were extremely, kind and informative. There were thousands of species of trees and plants. We felt rejuvenated and refreshed after walking through the forest, and it felt like a healing energy bath from nature! I have been to all of the Hawaiian Islands and the price and quality of this tour is unbeatable. This is a must see for you and your family, and there are only 24 cloud forests in the world left!
