I received my third tattoo from Nickel at Ono Tattoo in 2008 after checking with several shops in the area that I was not impressed with, the attitude I got from other shops was appalling to me, they obviously didn't realize that I would pay more money than god to have what I wanted put on my body as I would live with it the rest of my life. After meeting Nickel I realized she was the first artist that I have been to that had a light touch, was fast, and perfectly accurate. I keep in touch with her through out the year with concepts of new tattoo's until I return to the Big Island every October where I have her work on a new piece every year. I enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and talking to both Nickel and Chris while there. Their prices are perfect, their customer service can't be beat, and I am complemented constantly on her work that I display on my skin :) I can say without doubt that I would never go to another artist in Hawaii
If your thinking of getting a tattoo have a chat with the artists at Ono, they will most likely ignore the flash and draw you up a rockin' custom tatt on the spot. Nickel does the best script I've seen and she free hands it, so her work is fluid and consistent. Ono truly is no ka 'oi!
My wife got her first tatoo there and was nervous of course. We looked around the area and there was about 3 other places but we ended up back at uno. She was very happy.
I have three tattoos and a piercing from the ladies at Ono and I don't plan to get my ink from anywhere else! You can only find this kind of talent in one other place on the island and that would be Avery over at Eastern Classics.
I loved these guys! Josh did a great job and his experience showed in his technique. He freestyled me a plumeria that i had him do as black and gray--truly a one of a kind. I will recommend them to anyone and would love to do another next time I vacation.
P.S. Amanda Rose is also a painter and I have some of those too. :) I love her style and boundless creativity.
Ono tattoo has been dear friends of mine since I was 16 (8 years) I have gotten 8 tattoos from there and if I was still on the islands would continue to do so.. people are amazing and trust them with any piece.. they are amazing people and deff will work with any style u are intrested in.. never had any problems.. very clean and professional... =) if your visiting kona on the big island and wanna get inked to remind u of your experience Ono tattoo is your place to make that memory last forever!
