We found the Budget staff to be excellent in every way. They were friendly, efficient, and helpful in every way. Our vehicle was immaculate. When we returned the vehicle, the experience was extremely smooth. The shuttle driver was very helpful and quite friendly. I have honestly never had such a positive rental car experience.
With over a 100 people in line, there were only 2 people working at the counter. Over 2 hours waiting in line while Fast Break customers were able to cut in the line over and over again. There was a lady who signed up for Fast Break in the parking lot so she could skip the line. Wish I knew that was an option before the 2 hour wait.
I also left my wife to wait for the luggage while I went to the pick up the vehicle. That was the smartest thing that improved my experience. While I pulled up to the curb, all the people who we flew with were pushing and vying for positions to get onto the rental car buses to go get their vehicles. We loaded up and were the hell out of there no problems whatsoever.
Drop off was easy too. I dropped my wife off at the airport curb and unloaded the luggage, drove to the rental drop off, got checked out and grabbed my receipt, jumped on the bus and was curbside with my with wife in less than 5 minutes.
I did what I could to make the experience go smoother. I enrolled in the fast track program and I called to speak with a Budget representative over the phone so i didn't have to get the insurance sales spiel when I picked it up.
I will say this.. I don't think Budget is the problem with any of their bad reviews. I think it is the unprepared imbeciles who are at fault.
Had more than 1 and a half hour wait in long line out the door. Service was fine but the wait alone will prevent us from using Budget again. We came to vacation not stand in long lines.
You kinda have to do your part in not having a bad experience.
Budget has just lost a 10-year customer. Stood in line for 75 minutes to pick up our car to find it not ready nor was it even close to the car we reserved! Now waiting another 30 minutes with 3 children in town for them to get the car ready!! 2 people working and 40 people in line. Absolute horrible customer service. Budget - you know how many cars you have reserved so I don’t want to hear “it’s the busy season” - be prepared and be professional!! We have been renting at the Kona location for over 10 years and never experienced such poor service.
I had read many of the reviews for this location and was actually kinda dreading dealing with getting a vehicle.
